Toy Pitch 1 "Glow Rings"
Concept Statement: Escape the metal fortress. Time is ticking, so fly fast.
Setting/Mood: Futuristic with a mechanical setting. The rings are used to light the way, the only source of light in the game so very dark intense mood. There are obstacles in your way that you must shoot down in order to go through the hoops so as a player you must focus on both flying and shooting. If you don't get through all the hoops, then the world explodes and it's a game over.
Brief Backstory on Ideas: I chose a basic toy but made it more complicated by having to use two mechanics to get through the toy, shooting and driving/flying. I really wanted to make the first toy basic as to get a feeling for different toy ideas. Using what I had in UDK, I thought that everyone loved to fly or drive so that was the focus. I really want to take this to the next level because so far, you just fly however I would love to add driving to this game and switch it up on the player. Also, the rings are so far pretty generic and I would love to make them a bit more exciting, maybe some are small and harder to get to while others are larger and easier to maneuver through.
Obstacle Ideas: I already have a giant kirby as a stand in for an obstacle (something that you have to shoot to go through the hoops). I also have buildings that hinder your ability to fly in a straight line, you must maneuver around them and find the hoops. Another obstacle I have is time. You are fighting the clock from get go and you must fly through the hoops and find the exit of the level before the time runs out. If I develop this idea further, I would love to have people shooting at your aircraft/vehicle so it makes it more chaotic and fun. Also possibly fog? So maybe you can't see where your going, and can only lead the way with the lights from the hoops. I will probably change up the environment as well, still keeping the futuristic feel to the level but making the level more linear rather than round.
