Brainstorming my Level

Since my character is an over-protective, tough, kid loving mom who drives a mini-van, I thought it appropriate to set my level during the day, in a shopping type situation. I would love to incorporate a Walmart into the design and want this to be a small town type place. I also want my level to have some sort of elevation that would allow diversity to the level. Then I thought if I had a hill of some sort, it would be cool to maybe perhaps have a tunnel as well to go under (So the track loops above that then drops below into the tunnel).
Some mechanics I wanted to include that I thought would work well in my level design would be:
- A jump of some sort
- Water or mud slicks
- Lots of props to hit such as mailboxes, fences, picnic tables etc.
- A parking lot with railings (for wheelies)
- One idea which I thought would be fun is to add a parking lot blockade (for when they teach kids how to drive, this would include cones, road blocks, maybe some flashing lights)
- Parking lot tire spikes (to allow people to go in one way but not the other (I thought that would be fun to work with because maybe it could be triggered by someone then out pops these spikes that could hurt the other racer)

- Fire ring? (I am not sure how I would fit this into my design but I would love to include this attribute)
- Something that falls and explodes (Something to do with Walmart? Or a telephone pole?)
- I also thought that including a natural disaster (like a forest fire or tornado) would be really interesting to do because it would create a true environment that interacts with the player in a dramatic and different way. Though, this idea would be really complicated and I thought it best not to overwhelm the level.
- Tire shop (to drive though) which would allow a variation in buildings to the level as well as introducing another prop to hit around, tires!
- If no tunnel, a draw bridge players would have to jump over
-Trees. Will definitely need some sort of foliage, preferably oak trees

These were some ideas which I got from my research that I thought would be cool to add to my level design. Though this is still in the brainstorming stage, I really like the direction which this is going in.
