Theme and Story of my Level

My character who is a monster-truck loving, mini-van driving, mom I thought it would be important to make sure the level indicated her persona. For starters, the place is in the mid-west of the US somewhere in the state of Oklahoma. I definitely need a Walmart in my level and I got a tip to just make my level go through an actual Walmart which I really thought would be cool to add. The theme I wanted to give off is a busy, rush-hour traffic time for a little town. My character is rushing to Walmart with her 5 children wanting to go shopping, but everyone else is too! The time of day is around 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon on a saturday. The terrain is very small town looking with grass, trees, red-neck houses, and of course, the Walmart as the main area.
In the examples above, I really want to emphasize a huge Walmart in this little sleepy town with lots of green (but mostly flat except I do want to make one hill in the level so it adds variation in the level). The trees I was thinking to be more oak along with tall green grass. I also want it to be sunny outside with no clouds, sometime around the month of May or June would be perfect.

My color scheme would be a lot of earth tones with an accent of reds and blues. Since Walmart is particularly blue with a white logo, I thought I would stick to those colors. Maybe throw in some yellow for emphasis (like the smiley face logo). The major landscape difference would be the hill I would incorporate next to Walmart. Though I want the main track to go through Walmart, it would be important to go outside of the store as well. That's why I was thinking of adding the hill and maybe an unfinished ramp that would force the players to jump off, which would be my statement piece (or jumping off from the roof of Walmart, I haven't really decided which one to go with next).

The players all start off in Walmart, facing the store from the parking lot. Then I imagined the track to go straight into the store, through the a certain department (clothing or food). Then, going through the ailes, the track would go into the back of Walmart where the trucks come into. From there, the track would go outside, blasting through a gate (maybe a secret trail from here?) then onto the main road. There would then be some lights that you would go through, some houses that would lead you to a mid-way making freeway going up the hill. The major stunt I wanted to create would be an off-ramp jump back onto a small road in the town, towards the Walmart (though the Walmart is the statement place in the level.

I would continuing to direct the player on the track through fencing, trees, and blockades. Inside the store, the walls and racks would be stationary so that if the player hit them, it would cause it to block the player. The "stuff" in Walmart however, could be kicked around and all the smiley faced deal boards would all be moveable, maybe even be blown up which would be fun.

Simple Design Level:

This is just a first pass as it is very rough. Looking at the design, I am a bit uncertain about the length of the map, as I feel it might be a bit too short. However, I feel this can be easily fixed if it needs to be. I am also questioning my desire to include the lakes as I have never modeled water, and since my level requires you to jump over this, it is important to know if this part of the level with work. I had a lot of other ideas when trying to come up with the level, but I ended with this idea.
