DFA - Color Studies Thumbnails - Storytelling Environment

For our next assignment in our digital drawing course, we are creating a new world. This is the first assignment that we are allowed to work in groups to our choosing. I have paired up with Gabe and Jacob, who we hope to work together in pre-pro for our final senior thesis. We decided to try the waters and see if we are compatible with each other. So far, it is working out very well. Our environment which we chose on is a Romanian/ Transylvania alchemist castle. We each decided that we wanted to do a night scene with an interior space since none of us had really done that before. However, we all like different things so we tried to think of how to incorporate weapons, plants, and inventions together and thought of alchemy! I love to model plants and create an organic environment while Gabe loves weapons and torture (so he's doing a torture chamber underneath the greenhouse) and Jacob is creating the alchemist lab. We are all very excited about this environment and hopefully it will be a success! Here are some quick roughs that I am working on with lighting and color:

My favorite is the lower left! I still need to define the space more but that is the one I will probably go forward with. I think it defines the space well (but I might move the lighting over to the left more like the top right. I like that lighting a bit more.
